General Dentistry

Helping our patients maintain a healthy mouth and smile is the main goal of general dentistry.

So We prefer to provide small-scale preventative care rather than see patients in more intensive care suffering from problems that have not been treated in a timely manner.

We want to keep it in good condition and contribute to the health of the whole body.

We are here to make your smile shine and pave the way for a brighter life.

Check Ups

At Chiswick Dental Care, we invite all of our patients along for General Dentistry on a regular 6-monthly basis.
Statistically, half of all adults in the UK don’t visit their dentists on a regular basis for their routine check-ups.

This is because people perceive them to be an inconvenient and unnecessary expense. However, dental check-ups are important for your long-term oral health and the cost of avoiding them may work out far higher than the cost of work that may come from avoiding regular check-ups.

By visiting your General Dentistry regularly, you can significantly reduce the risk of needing emergency dental work.

Benefits Of Regular General Dentistry At Chiswick Dental Care

It enables your dentist to monitor your whole oral health in a holistic manner.

General dentistry will allow your dentist to detect any on-going or potential problems early, where they can recommend interventions. This will save money by avoiding the need for costly or advanced treatments.

This will allow your dentist to screen and check you regularly for oral cancer

Your dentist can offer you comprehensive advice on caring for your entire oral health which is individually tailored to your requirements.

Preventative Dental Care & Hygienist

Preventive dentistry is the best way of helping you to keep your teeth, gums and mouth healthy.

By following the advice of your dentist or hygienist will mean that you will need to have less dental treatment.

N

The two main causes of tooth loss are gum disease and decay.

N

The better you deal with these two problems, the higher the chance you will have of keeping your teeth for life.

N

By working with the dental team, you can help to prevent the need for treatment, in particular fillings and extractions.

N

Your dental team may suggest a course of treatment to improve the condition of your teeth, gums and mouth and then work out a ‘maintenance plan’ to help you keep it that way.

N

Even for people without teeth, regular visits to the dental team can help identify and treat conditions such as oral cancer and denture stomatitis.

N

Basically, It is never too late to start and is excellent for children and young people too.

Preventative Treatments

At Chiswick Dental Care, having regular dental cleanings with our Hygienist will prevent the development of gum disease. This also will reduce bleeding gums and dental decay. We provide dental advice, to determine whether you are suitable for fluoride application and oral hygiene guidance. Since prevention is better than cure, our dental team takes a proactive approach to preventative treatment.

Having regular checkups and hygienist visits will help increase the likelihood of future problems occurring or even becoming more serious which would then lead to costly dental bills. In that case, Preventative treatments include check-ups, hygiene treatment, local fluoride application, and fissure sealants.

The depth of our team’s knowledge and skills means that your dental hygiene and oral health are in the best possible hands.

Your hygienist will offer advice individually tailored to you to get the best from your oral care routine

Extractions

An extraction is performed to remove a tooth, whether due to disease, overcrowding, or damage. When tooth/teeth extractions are required, the area around the tooth will be numbed and then your dentist will remove the tooth. A small amount of bleeding normally occurs, and as a result, your mouth will replace the removed tooth root by forming a blood clot in the area.

Bruxism

Bruxism

Bruxism is another word for teeth grinding, which is a common problem that studies show effects at least 10% of the population. So many people aren’t aware they are suffering from bruxism because it happens in their sleep or while concentrating, and it may fall to a dentist to notice the typical signs of tooth wear associated with it.
Symptoms Of Bruxism

N

Facial pain

N

Headaches

N

Earache

N

Disrupted sleep

N

Pain and stiffness in the jaw joint and surrounding muscles, which can lead to temporomandibular disorder (TMD)

N

Worn-down teeth, leading to increased sensitivity, tooth loss, broken teeth or fillings

When someone grinds their teeth regularly the outer layer of enamel is lost, exposing the inner layer of dentin, which can become sensitive.

This is one of the typical complaints that causes patients to seek help, or they may notice that their teeth are getting shorter.

If bruxism is deemed to be the only or the main cause of tooth wear, the first step may be to wear a splint to halt the damage.

At Chiswick Dental Care we are able to construct a Michigan splint, a type of stabilisation splint that requires special moulds and measurements.
